How Do You Self-Identify As A Vampire? Understanding Psi, Sang, And Hybrids

How do you self-identify as a vampire? There are a variety of ways people choose to do so. If we were to categorize the condition, it would be Sang, Psi, Hybrid, and Elemental.

self identified vampire

Race Vs. Condition

When discussing the types of vampires that exist, most do not consider the distinctions as races and rather prefer the overarching concept to be documented as a condition instead. Look at having vampirism as a metaphysical health condition and you will have a better understanding of what it means to self-identify as one of these groups. Let’s break down – at a very high level – each of the categories:

  • Sang: drinks blood
  • Psi: lives off of the energy life force of others
  • Hybrid: a combination of Sang and Psi
  • Elemental: gains strength by absorbing energy from the Earth’s elements
psi vampire

Unlike traditional vampires, Psi vampires drain the energies of those around them in order to replenish their own life force. There are dozens if not hundreds of vampire communities all around the US today – many of which are comprised of PSi Vampires looking to connect with like-minded people.

Also known as Empathetic Vampires or Pranic Vampires, these individuals typically feed off of the life force of other individuals. For a PSI, it’s all about energy and it has nothing to do with blood.

You won’t see a PSI feeding off of human or animal blood because they don’t need it. Instead, they can remain fully sustained off of other people’s energy – also known as their chi, life force, or prana.

While there is no scientific proof to back this claim, many believe to have this ability and even more, can pinpoint someone in their life who “sucks the life out of them.” Sounds familiar? You might know a psi vampire and not even be aware of it!

These particular vampires need to feed quite regularly and can pull the energy from a variety of places:

  • Your emotions
  • Your need to care for them constantly
  • Having sex with them
  • Drawing from your nervousness
  • Pulling from your memories

So, if you happen to have a PSI vampire in your life, be careful! It is very important for them to feed on a regular basis in order to sustain their own energy levels.

How to Protect Yourself From a PSI Vampire

If you feel like you are constantly drained whenever you are around a particular individual, you might be dealing with a psi vampire. There are certain ways to protect yourself and it’s easier than you think.

  • Amulets and charms
  • Learning how to shield yourself – To start, surround yourself with white light – completely covering your auric field. Visualize this. This is your shield. Replenish it throughout the day whenever you remember.
Sanguinarian Vampire

Understanding The Sanguinarian Vampire

The Sanguinarians are more in line with what you think of when you read about traditional vampires in folklore. A Sang drinks blood – plain and simple. But maybe not.

Truth be told, there is a little bit of a divide between the two types, so to speak. The Sangs have a belief that they are more in line with the customs of the vampires and therefore, truer to the life.

Sangs need the blood of others to stay healthy and so it is important for them to feed. and feed often. This isn’t a choice. People who are Sang, believe they are born as a Sang.

There is some argument about whether or not their life choices are just a preference or not. Is the Sang vampire choosing to take part in the blood-drinking act because it brings him/her pleasure? Is it a fetish? Or is it really important for them mentally to live? I suppose only they truly know.

Either way, the Sang vampire consumes a few droplets of blood per feeding, but it could go all the way up to a cup at a time. It varies per individual.

Doing further research, I even read that Sangs are born into families of other Sangs. So, this is a generational birth. However, in forums, I also found plenty of people who just decided to become Sang once they hit a certain age. It is also not uncommon for people to switch around as they spend more and more time within a vampire community.

blood donor

How To Safely Find A Blood Donor For Your Feeding

As a Sang, it’s important to take certain precautions when seeking out willing donors for your feedings. Naturally, you need to use sterile equipment on your donor when inflicting a small incision, but you have to take care of yourself as well.

Consider these first steps:

  • Start on the Internet – find forums of individuals interested in becoming donors.
  • Make sure you are safe – have your donor tested and screened for any STDs or illnesses before consuming their blood.
  • Join Vampire communities – Learn about best practices from SANGs who have been practicing much longer than you.
elemental vamp

Elemental Vampire

Elemental vampires also live off the absorption of life energy, but they take that energy from the Earth’s elements. So, these individuals are capable of replenishing their powers by pulling from Air, Fire, Water, Earth etc.

Most consider this vampire a derivative of Psi because they each work off of life force. Have you ever walked out into a fully sunny day and felt absolutely rejuvenated? Do stormy nights make you feel whole again? You might be pulling from the Earth’s elements as well.

Some Elemental Vampires use the raising of a cone of power as a method of feeding. Instead of releasing the energy back into the universe, they simply draw the energy back into themselves.

Hybrid Vampires

A hybrid vampire is exactly what it sounds like – someone who practices more than one energy absorption tactic. A Hybrid could be both SANG and PSI at the same time.

Defining Your Awakening

Do you think that you’ve recently experienced an awakening? An awakening is the moment where you start to transition to a vampire. It’s the point when your body begins to recognize physical, emotional, and spiritual changes that bring you on your true path of discovery.

Some traits of a vampire awakening include:

  • Sleepless nights
  • Fogginess
  • Compulsive eating
  • Mood swings
  • Severe drowsiness
  • Dry mouth and eyes
  • Photosensitivity
  • Prolonged sickness
  • Sun sensitivity
  • Needing to eat raw meat (for Sang)

These are just a sampling of some of the recording awakening symptoms new self-identified vampires have documented. Each person typically has their own unique experience.

drink blood

Can vampires drink each other’s blood?

Since we are discussing SANG vampires, I thought it would be interesting to discuss whether or not traditional vampires would be able to drink one another’s blood. If you frequented shows like the Vampire Diaries, there were moments where two vampires would feed off of one another. For example, when Elana fed on Damon in the show, it was more of a sexual moment than anything else.

When referencing the Underworld, drinking the blood of another vampire enabled someone to access the other’s memories. So, this was a very powerful thing to do. It was a gift. Two very different takes.

Anne Rice had an even different interpretation. In Queen of the Dammed, she created a world in which if one vampire feeds on another, it would strengthen them significantly more than when they do when they feed on humans. It was uncommon, but it happened.

There are even stories in which vampires would allow another to feed on them to help heal inflicted wounds. The feeding would, in fact, bond the two eternally.

So, which is correct? Can a vampire feed on another vampire? It seems that in most version of the folklore, vampires are able to feed on each other, but for different reasons.

However, if you think about this logically, the real reason why a vampire drinks blood is to gain access to someone’s life force. In theory, a vampire is dead – so the blood that he/she stores in his/her body would not be able to survive. So, if a vampire were to drink the blood of another, there would be no life force linked to what remains – UNLESS it happened right after a human feeding. In this scenario, timing matters.
